My second Home – Student Spotlight: Erika Ortiz

Welcome back to our weekly spotlight. Today, we would like to introduce you to another \»lifer\». This time, a Junior. What she enjoys the most about studying at ACA is being able to get to know so many cultures,  hearing different languages, and also eating their food (which she loves).

Here is  Erika’s personal experience:

I was born in the US, but when I was four years old, I moved to Paraguay. That’s when I started attending ACA in Pre-Kinder. I remember my first teachers: Ms. Paola Angulo and Mrs. Arza, who made me feel welcome even though I was new to school and Paraguay. My grandma and grandfather have also helped me when I first got to Paraguay by taking me to school and helping me practice my songs for the music concert. My grandpa also helped me by answering all of the hard questions (my “Paw Paw questions”) that I had about the Bible that no one else could answer.I don’t imagine myself going to another school than ACA or being a part of any other class than the Class of 2022; it’s like this school is my second home and family.

ACA has impacted my life in so many ways, not only academically. Being in this school has helped me grow spiritually and as a person as well. The instruction and examples from teachers and staff were the same that I received at home and at church, which has also helped me a lot. My parents have also helped me a lot by teaching me the Bible and through their example. They have always encouraged me to do my best, be a better person, and be a better Christian. I accepted Christ into my heart when I was eight years old, and continue to grow in Christ today.

Even though there have been a few bumps in my walk with God, I have found my way back to him. There are so many lessons that I have learned from God such as his faithfulness in tough situations, his unconditional love for us, and his amazing grace. In ACA, I have also learned a lot of Christian values and how to apply them to my life such as using the spiritual gifts that God has given me, and how I can use them in my daily life. I have also made a lot of friends here that also encourage me to be a better person and to be more like Christ every day. I think that it’s cool how sometimes teachers take what we are learning in class, and help us find ways to biblically integrate them. I don’t imagine myself going to another school than ACA or being a part of any other class than the Class of 2022; it’s like this school is my second home and family.
